Feeding Tips

Mealtime for your baby can be both exciting and frustrating!

Many parents/caregivers have questions about how, when, and what to feed their baby. These are important questions because proper nutrition has a tremendous impact on your baby’s growth in every aspect of their lives from physical development to cognitive and social/emotional development. Some infants will eat anything you give them, and others are pickier. Here are a few quick tips to help you feed your infant well:

  • Crying doesn’t always mean your infant is hungry. Make sure the infant needs food and not something else.
  • Around six months, watch for signs your baby is ready to begin baby cereal and baby food.
  • Introduce new foods and help your baby explore new tastes. They might need to try a new food 10 or 15 times before they like it.
  • Breastmilk and formula are the best drink for infants.
