Safely securing your child.
Illinois state law requires all children under the age of 8 years old to be properly secured in a child safety seat while riding in a vehicle. Children under the age of 2 should be in a rear-facing child restraint system until the child reaches at least 40 pounds or is 40 inches tall. Safely securing a car seat can be a challenging experience. Many local driver’s license facilities or fire and police departments offer car seat training and safety checks on a regular basis.
The Office of the Secretary of State offers much more information about safely securing your child and where to find assistance.
