As a parent/caregiver, you know your child best.

Every child is unique and develops in different ways at different rates. However, if you have concerns regarding your child’s development, or if you think there could be issues with how your child plays, learns, speaks, acts, moves, or relates to others, talk to your child’s doctor.  You may also contact your local Early Intervention Child and Family Connections office to request a free evaluation/assessment. Anyone can refer a child to the Illinois Early Intervention Program. The program receives referrals from many “primary referral sources” such as parents/caregivers, physicians and other health care providers, child care providers, social service agencies, and early learning programs. When you call, you can share your concerns and observations and ask questions. Acting early makes a real difference in your child’s development.
