Limit sugars, salts, and additives whenever possible.

In addition to good nutrition, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends 60 minutes of physical activity per day for school-age children and youth. Healthy levels of physical activity encourages both life-long fitness and the mental and emotional development of children. Encourage and model physical fitness in your home by:

  • Make it a family event by going for walks, hikes, biking, or dancing through family chores
  • Play together (sports, parks, mini-golf, frisbee golf, etc.)
  • Set fitness goals like running a 5K as a family
  • Limit screen time (TV, computer, tablet, video games, etc.) to no more than 2 hours a day
